Q: How hard is it to put together your
own site?
lisa: If
you can use a basic tool like Microsoft Front Page, you can build a
simple site - they provide lots of templates to get started. If you want
your own domain name (such as www.lisa3day.com
or www.dmccully.com) you'll have
to pay for the name, and also the website hosting. That basic stuff will
cost you about $200. Another alternative is to go with one of the
"free" website tools on sites such as www.bigstep.com.
Your e-mail or internet service provider may also have free web space
available, but your domain name will include theirs, and it could get
ugly. If you want some personal help in pursuing your own domain and
website, contact lisa or dean.
Also check out www.pledgepage.com
which lets you post a page for personal fundraising. Peter Dudley, one
of Pledgepage's founders, was an SF2000 3-day walker.
