Q: How do I subscribe to the list?
To subscribe to the general SF Walk
list, send an empty e-mail message to sf3day-subscribe@topica.com
and they will reply with further instructions.
To subscribe to the SF Crew list, send
an empty e-mail message to
sfcrew-subscribe@topica.com.
Q: How do I unsubscribe from the
list?
To unsubscribe from the SF Walk list, send an empty e-mail message to sf3day-unsubscribe@topica.com.
They will reply with a confirmation. Do NOT send a message to sf3day@topica.com
- we used to see those all the time and laugh, because we knew the
person would still be getting e-mail to the list!
To unsubscribe from the SF Crew list,
send an empty e-mail message to
sfcrew-unsubscribe@topica.com.
Q: How do I switch to
digest format, so that I don't receive so many messages?
To switch to digest format, once you are
subscribed to the list, send a blank message to: sf3day-request-digest@topica.com
(walk list) or
sfcrew-request-digest@topica.com (crew list).
Q: I'm new to mailing lists - give me
some etiquette pointers
 |
Create "meaningful"
subject lines for your messages; it helps everyone sort through their
mail, looking for specific information.
|
 |
If you are
going to post a message which is not related to the walk or breast
cancer, please include "OFF TOPIC" in the subject line.
|
 |
Don't start "flame
wars," criticizing other posters - avoid inflammatory comments
|
 |
Don't type everything in UPPER
CASE - it's the equivalent of shouting! Single words in upper case for
emphasis make sense.
|
 |
Remember that you don't know
everyone on the receiving end of the message - don't say anything you
would not say to a large crowd of people who come from various
backgrounds and situations.
|
 |
When appropriate, respond only
to the message poster, not the entire group.
|
 |
To unsubscribe, DO NOT send a
message to sf3day@topica.com or
sfcrew@topica.com -
follow the instructions above.

Q: Help! I
keep getting booted off of the listserve
For some reason, a number of
people have problems getting booted off of the listserve, with no
notification. This is a Topica problem, and not something we can control.
There are 2 known workarounds. The first one does not always work
reliably, but it is worth a try.
Workaround #1
Go to
www.topica.com.
Log in with your e-mail and
password (you should already have this set up).
Go to "my topica."
Find "sf3day" in the list (it may
be your only listserve, but some people have several).
Click on the link under
"messages."
If you've been booted, you'll get
a message saying you can't read the list. if not, you should be able to
read messages. NOTE: if you can read messages here but are not receiving
them by e-mail, it may be a problem with your e-mail. Keep going with
these instructions -- it's possible they will fix that problem too.
Then go back to the "my topica"
page.
Click on the sf3day link under
"lists you've joined."
You should see something that
talks about delivery methods, etc.
Make sure your address looks OK.
Click on "save changes" (even if
there were no changes).
Then go back to the "my topica"
page one more time.
Try again to read messages on the
list.
Hopefully this will work for you.
If you can see messages, then you should start receiving e-mail again.
Workaround #2
Send an empty message to
sf3day-unsubscribe@topica.com (walk list) or
sfcrew-unsubscribe@topica.com (crew list).
Wait for their reply message
Send an empty message to
sf3day-subscribe@topica.com
(walk list) or
sfcrew-subscribe@topica.com (crew list).
Wait for their message, which will
ask you to click on a link to confirm your membership in the list.
